Korean Actors I Want to See More

I asked on my social media about what theme I should do for April; and you guys answered Korean Actors/Actresses over Korean Indie Singers. So, I am going to post weekly sticking to the theme; about Korean Actors and Actresses. I have made similar posts in the past, because my love for many supported Korean actors and actresses, also my love for Ahjussi actors lol. For this year, I will start with Korean actors in 2018 that I love and would love to see more in the future. Dramas in 2018 that I watched was starred by more actors than actresses; thus I am making special Korean Actors in 2018 that I wanted to see more in the future. Nevertheless, I will also upload about Korean actresses that I want to see more, a dedicated post for a director or two, and an updated Ahjussi-fan. Please stay tune. It might be changed depending on what contents are ready first. But, whilst doing this, I still will upload about other show, drama, or movie as well depending on how fast I finish the shows.

Followed is not ranked, I will mention a little bit of their background and my favorite dramas of them. Ah… this is going to be a long list! Please click on the link to see the full review of the drama mentioned. Most of the actors were in the dramas the featured in this blog as well.

NEW COMERS

Kim Sun Ho (Two Cops and You Drive Me Crazy).
I only saw him twice. One was on Two Cops and the other was on You Drive Me Crazy which I made a review about. For these two dramas, I could say he was really mesmerizing and handsome (haha…). I like the fact that I did not enjoy Two Cops but I truly enjoyed his performance better than the drama in overall. That made me watching You Drive Me Crazy, and yes fell in love with him even more. He looks young for his age and his twinkling eyes are really something. I wish to see him on more various roles. I personally want to see him starring on melo-drama. I bet it would be a challenge and perhaps beautiful? *Crossingfinger. Next of his project is Eulancha Wakiki 2. Not a big fan of the first one, but will see if I will see it because of him or maybe I skip it…

Kim SUn HO

Park Ho San (Prison Playbook & My Ahjussi).
He actually has a long history in dramas and movies, but he truly shone in 2018, so allow me to still consider him as the “new comer”.
For this ahjussi too, I only saw two of his roles and definitely deserved to be praised!!!! Both were iconic and loved by a lot of people. First and the most breakthrough one that I guess people will remember for a long time was on Prison Playbook as Kaist. He was not acting! He seemed so relaxed and made the character become so real. Second was on My Ahjussi, again it was like seeing Park Ho San or another Kaist but not exactly similar. He truly showed the most relaxed manner in acting. So natural…He delivers joke without not so much effort. It was so flowing and touching at the same time. I am so glad that he got great roles and worked with good directors 🙂 Shineeee Mr. Kaist, please shineeeee

Lee Gyu Hyung (Secret Forest, Prison Playbook, and Life).
Lee Gyu Hyun has a similar story with Park Ho San. All started with his witty fight with kaist on Prison Playbook and his cutesy acting made me become his fan immediately! His role as the very cute druggie became so iconic, even his fellow actors on the other drama made a good impersonation of his role as Haerongie. But, aside of good role, he can be named as the actor with million faces. Proven by various roles he got. Short episode as villain on Goblin, killer but has an emotional background on Secret Forest, and wonderful good brother on Life. I serious am looking forward to more of his work. He can be successful and perhaps the next Kim Myung Min? I was so excited to see him along with Jung Woo Sung in my most anticipated movie – Innocent Witness.

Honorable mentions

Jung Hae In (Prison Playbook & Something in the Rain).
I put Jung Hae In as the honorable mentions because he can be popular with his very cute face. But, I do agree that he has a good basic of acting. I hope he will get another good role and not fading away on only ‘good roles’ … 🙂00191895

Jang Ki Young (My Ahjussi & Come and Hug Me).
I have a small space for Jang Ki Young in my heart since My Ahjussi. His role is not so big but he puts out his best. I mean really best of best. I hope to see him with an intense character in the future too because this duded has the talent.

Park Hae Soo (Prison Playbook).
Oh Please…. he started from a small role, and I was sweetly surprised by his first starred as the main lead on Prison Playbook! Gosh, you don’t know how happy I was. I do love underdogs, and love it even more when they got a chance to show off more. I am looking forward to see him on screen and he is so gorgeous. Good on photo shoots too!!!!

SUPPORTED ACTORS

Jun Suk Ho (Life on Mars)
I am still thinking this my forever Manager Ha (Misaeng) is a goodddd actor! I remember how he significantly caught my attention on his small (but big) role on Misaeng as Ahn Young Yi’s devil as well as angel. He was one of few supporting actors that played his small role in a big gesture. His small smirk, frizzy look made his character was loved and hated at the same time. He then casted on several dramas afterwards, and I kept looking forward to see him on every drama he starred. Small or big roles. I sincerely wish he got more important and important role who could pull out the best of him. There was actually a post on Hancinema mentioned about him starred on mega hits Netflix drama – Kingdom

Park Hae Joon (My Ahjussi).
Oh yes, another Misaeng face (though he’s been in several movies and dramas, but he is forever manager Chun). He is already having a hang of Korean showbiz world, but just one more step to have more significant role. I am so glad to see his role on My Ahjussi as the best friend of the main lead. His calm upbringing is just captivating. He has been in many box office movies like Hwayi and Believer. Climbing up step by step, he is soon more recognized.

Honorable Mention

Kang Ki Dong (Prison Playbook)
I have seen him twice on tvN dramas. He reminds me of the young Kim Dong Wook where he was every drama’s side kick. His cute look makes me crave for him even more. His cuteness is just addictive. But, deep down in my heart, I hope he will get more serious roles in the future.

FAMILIAR FACES

Lee Sun Kyun (My Ahjussi).
I just cannot get enough of his deep toned voice… It is so sexy. I love him on three dramas. It is true that he always projects the similar “good man” vibe, and it is tolerable. First, of course, I saw him on Coffee Prince. His role as the second lead man was just so memorable. People even love him over the main lead (but Goong Yoo was hard to beat, I agree). The second role was on Triple. Not many people love the drama, but I am one of the few that love the drama and his character in it. He is always suitable for a good man role. My hats off for his role on My Ahjussi. Can’t express my gratitude on Kim Won Suk who casted him and use his breath and voice to project emotion. It was a difficult role. A very complex and frustrating character like the ahjussi was nailed by him. Good to see him as a very good main role.

Choo Seung Woo (Secret Forest & Life).
And let the world knows that my favorite actor is him. His last two roles have revived my love for him. I remember in my early years of loving Korean Wave, I watched a lot of his movies. I cannot forget how great he was on Marathon as a ‘special kid.’ His last two roles were on Secret Forest and Life were just reminding me of how great he is! and how I missed him. For both his roles on Secret Forest and Life sharing similarities in terms of character; less speak, a bit odd, a bit reserved, a bit arrogant. Knowing that his true character is way from reserved *haha. He is a good actor isn’t he? and ve.ry. hand.some……

Honorable Mentions.

All Mr. Sunshine heroes!!!
Lee Byun Hyun, You Youn Seok, and Byun Yo Han. From all the bromance I saw on 2018 dramas, I can’t get y eyes off of the trios!!! Of course, they were all charming on their own individual way, but put altogether in the same frame was just a feast on eyes. They also performed the best among their past dramas. Especially Lee Byun Hyun. It has been a while he was not on tv drama. His character was evolving from a complexity. It was raw and beautiful. Byun Yo Han’s character was always his trade mark. A bit witty, and the comical lead among the trio. However, You Youn Seok as Gu Dong Mae was slaying. I was actually team Gu Dong Mae hahaha… It was one of the best performance of his; and once again made his name shine more.
Thank youuuu…

This is solely based on my personal preference. I hope it will give you insights about actors here, and appreciate their works even more. Especially the new comers and the supported actors. Without them, there will be no hero in our favorite dramas.
